Since October 2022 he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Technical University of Cartagena, Cartagena, Spain, jointly with the Institute of Bioengineering, Miguel Hernández University of Elche. His main research interests include microwave engineering, antenna and propagation, electronics and computer science applied to bioengineering. His research work is focused on non-invasive dielectric characterization of biological tissues, with an especial emphasis on the development of non-invasive microwave-based sensors for the detection of glucose concentration in aqueous and biological solutions.

Dr. Juan was a recipient of the CEA-Springer Award to the Best PhD Thesis in Bioengineering 2020, awarded by the Spanish Committee in Automatic Control (CEA), as well as the Santander Bank Young Researchers Award 2022, awarded by Santander Bank, Inc., the Extraordinary Ph.D. Award 2022, awarded by Miguel Hernández University of Elche, or the IEEE TIM Outstanding Associate Editor 2023 Award, awarded by IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, among other awards and distinctions. He held a prestigious predoctoral FPU research grant from the Spanish Government, a competitive postdoctoral grant from the Brittany Government, France, a competitive "Margarita Salas" postdoctoral grant from the European Union, Spanish Ministry of Universities and Miguel Hernández University of Elche, a prestigious APOSTD postdoctoral grant from the Valencian Government, Spain, and a highly prestigious "Ramón y Cajal" Fellowship grant from the Spanish Research Agency. He authored the book Glucose Concentration Detection in Aqueous and Biological Solutions with Microwave Sensors: An Approach towards Non-invasive Glucose Sensing, published by Springer (2021). He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, as well as a regular reviewer for several highly-impacted journals, including Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, Biosensors (MDPI), Sensors (MDPI), IEEE Sensors Journal or IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters.
